The offseason was an eventful one for JRM. The team’s latest addition brings 20-year-old Cole Whitt into the fold. Whitt, a native of Alpine, Calif., embarks on his debut season piloting JRM’s flagship No. 88 Chevrolet. He’ll compete for the season championship and rookie-of-the-year honors in 2012.
“It’s just a great opportunity and I’m glad these guys are taking a chance on me and giving me this chance to show them what I can do. … I’m pretty confident in the team that I’ve got here.”
“My main thing is I want to go try to win races and I want to run up front and contend for a championship. That’s what we’re going for. The rookie-of-the-year [award] would just be icing on top, but more than anything, we’re going to win the championship.”
“We’re not really concerned about rookie of the year. We want to get everything we can and if you get that championship, you’re probably going to get rookie of the year also.”
